Last week I applied for a Personal Platinum MasterCard, but was denied due to already having a Personal Platinum Visa that was over 24 months old. I called the reconsideration line immediately after the denial. The rep told me they had just created a new policy stating that they won't approve a second Personal AA card if you already have one open and that they had not yet decided how long the policy would stay in effect. I don't know if the rep knew what she was talking about, but that was what I was told.

Not wanting to waste a hard pull, I ran back and applied for the Biz MasterCard regardless of the warnings of one app per day and was instantly approved. My last AA Biz approval was around 14 months prior.
