0830 Meet in lobby of Doubletree Hotel for our 0845 departure of our morning sightseeing tour around Alice visiting the destinations below:

Sightseeing

School of the Air
The school is an important part of the history of Alice Springs. Opened in 1951, it has been broadcasting to children of isolated communities throughout a 1.3 million square kilometre 'classroom'. Interpretive displays demonstrate the important role it has in the Outback and on school days you can hear lessons being broadcast.

Historic Telegraph Station
This is a popular and recommended attraction for people interested in the history of the outback. Alice Springs obtained its name from the waterhole at the Overland Telegraph Station established in 1872 to relay messages between Darwin and Adelaide. This historical reserve marks the original site of the first European settlement in Alice Springs.

Royal Flying Doctors Service
Royal Flying Doctors Service is the perfect way to develop an understanding of the lifestyles of people living in the outback and the hardships they face everyday.

Anzac Hill
This is the most visited site in Alice Springs and offers incredible views of the city.

The tour should finish by 1300 then we can head off for a pub lunch somewhere. I don't want to over schedule everyone as I realise a lot of people have come a long way however there will be plenty to do for those that are still bright eyed & bushy tailed by the afternoon.

Any keen golfers can have a game at the Alice Springs Golf Club or there are plenty of local art galleries showcasing Aboriginal art plus shops selling local arts and crafts.

Dinner

Hanuman Restaurant which is located in the Doubletree Hotel which specialises in Thai, Indian & Nonya cuisine. Some have you may have had a chance to dine at Hanuman in Darwin or Cairns during previous Ozfests.
