a follow-up
in addition to the previously mentioned bonus, i was told today that the fee would not be waived, however, i was able to attach both of these retention offers to my account (at first, only one was presented. i had to push to get the second one as well):
(1) 2,500 bonus miles for spending $500 within 90 days
(2) 2x miles for gas/utility/grocery, maxing out at 8000 miles earned (also within 90 days)
i took both
