But to qualify for the various tiers, if you fly on AS metal, you can fly less miles.
DL and AA both credit to AS. I will go out of my way to fly AS metal (faster qualification, upgrades) but for this price DL/AA metal isn't worth it. Can fly SMF-OGG for $40 less on UA and no positioning cost to LAX. Realistically these recent Hawaii fares are vacation fares not MRs.
