IC Kuala Lumpur

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Not really

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest and upgraded at first to something which looks like a regular room (see the master thread about the IC KL for some more explanation). Seems they invent multiple categories for their standard size rooms and then provide a two category upgrade to - a standard size room without club.
After complaining they finally added club access for an additional fee.

How are the rooms?
Nice, modern, but small and long. Huge bed which does not leave much rume for anything else.

How is the exec. lounge?
Had to pay extra. Lounge is really nice. Employees are very friendly and very helpful. Food at high tea and happy hour about average, breakfast very good selection (about on par with Bangkok and Saigon, much better than Singapore)

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Yes. An address book (paper, what century are they living in?)
Plate with some fruits and two bottles of water

How was the minibar?
It seems they hava a special RA minimar and clean most of it out. Lots of empty space, 3 beers and some water/soft drinks. No wine, no liquor, no champagne.

What was good and what was bad?
Good
- Breakfast in the Club

- Hotel does not honor the upgrade policy. Had to flight and pay extra for club access
- Free Internet is unusable slow except for basic email etc. They offer a fairly expensive option at higher speed (which I did not buy)
- Early Check in and late check out is not standard. It is on request only and subject to availability

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Hotel seems to be expensive for KL and not really special

Would you return?
Unlikely.

Additional comment:
I am surprised that they are not thrown out of the chain or IHG does not replace management there. Seems like they are getting away for a long time with not following the rules and IHG does not seem to care.
