Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked - Basic/Standard Room (King Bed Grande Deluxe)
Received - 2-level upgrade Grande Dlx -> Exec Dlx -> Club Intercontinental on 34th Floor (of 37... 36th = Gym, 37th = Lounge + Pool)
(Just one room type, a proper 2-room (Corner) Suite above Club rooms)
How are the rooms?
+ All rooms same 45m large size, and layout.
+ King Bed, Sofa, Wardrobe + Drawers, Workdesk+Chairs
+ Loads of Lighting + Multi-Connector plug sockets (no adaptors needed)
+ Massive 50" TV + dvd player, lots of channels including HBO, FOX movies etc
+ Laptop Safe, Dressing Gown, Weighing Scales, Mini Bar
+ Aircon good + not noisy (cold this time even when I selected highest temp setting)
+ Bathroom - Bath and separate Large Shower Cubicle
+ Coffee/Kettle etc
How is the exec. lounge?
+ Great, one of the best, nice evening nibbles and pleaseant Aussie Sparkling wine. Also quite nice cocktails, not bad Mohito's.
+ Only had breakfast day I left, American is nice steak with a fried egg, setting me up for flight back to Europe.
What is Good or Bad
Good
+ everything about hotel and staff
+ The whole experience from Taxi arriving to reaching pre-prepared room, Lift attendant summoning lifts, Lounge Checkin remembering you from earlier visits, MiniBar loaded with preferred Diet Colas, Gift, Fruit, wine in room already.
+ High Floor Rooms not overlooked by the other nearby buildings

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
o Yes on Company Rate Fixed at 3300++ . ^
BUT from 01JAN2014 I lose that great rate

Great Value, company fixed rate 3300++ on a room usually 5000-6500++, which under Asia Discount Room rate Rules still counts as qualifying, scores points. Upgrade to to Club retailing in range 8000-10000 ++
Would you return?

that IHG redoing company rates worldwide with a crappy dynamic pricing, my existing great rate seems not available for 2014 stays,
- hence checking out nearby Conrad on middle Saturday night.
In 2014, when room is ADR 6000++, Company is 6100++ Flex instead of 3300++ up until 31Dec2013 ...
Alas I can see ok Conrad stays on PR13CB rate now for me, alas smaller conrad exec rooms, ok but not so good Conrad lounge, no conrad free minibar etc
UPDATE -
My company 2014 rates loaded recently, IC BKK at 3500++ , happy again now even though 5euro more per night next year, must still be about best rate out there for this IC.
