Pretty much all European cars and even American cars sold in Europe have this auto-stop feature. But on every car I have driven you can turn it off, although you might have to turn it off each time you start the motor. It is usually labeled "ECO" on the button you press to turn off.

Blame the environmentalist lobby, the so called Green parties here in Europe. Yet no one I know thinks it does any good for the environment.
