No not such a great offer IMHO unless you really were about to buy an AC membership, or if the 10k EQM get you above an elite threshold you're looking for at less cost than mileage runs you were about to do.
Your argument is valid only for those who can obtain a first-year free Citi AA card at present time. I wonder how many are left among FTers?
