IC Bali Resort

IC Bali Resort
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Classic room on points, got club room

How are the rooms?
Spacious room, large bathroom, double sinks (one inside, one outside of the bathroom). Room shows its age.

How is the exec. lounge?
Mixed bag.
- Club pool area is excellent and quiet compared to the rest of the resort (sold out). Basic continental breakfast available at the pool, sun-downer cocktails start at 4.30 pm. Very nice setting then. Only pancakes as snacks - and the only option for families with kids under 12.
- In the club lounge, they've created a very sophisticated and elegant atmosphere - yet the guests don't match that at all. It's of absurd comicality to watch. Very limited selection of snacks for happy hour, hot snacks served at the table. Piano player. Excellent selection of spirits and cocktails available, however, service is too slow.
Average breakfast selection and inacceptably slow service: Eggs 15 minutes, coffee 10 minutes, bread basket 20 minutes - and the buffet selection is very limited. However, it is also possible breakfast to have at the Italian and main restaurant.
Overall, the club concept is good, not great. However, I wouldn't know how to improve it considering the large number of club guests.

What was good and what was bad?
Good

- Very nice and unexpected upgrade on a reward stay
- Club pool area
- Staff
- Simply a very beautiful property

Bad
- Cheap bedding and a worn, soft mattress.
- Prices at for food and beverage are very high (water 4.50 €, main dishes 20 €, alcohol is very expensive, champagne 250 € and up), but food is very good.
- The hotel was sold out: I would not want to stay in the non-club area - too crowded; club is acceptable.
- Hotel, particularly rooms, will need a large refurbishment within this decade

Value for USD or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
If, only at the club area. However, since club rooms can be quite expensive, we'd probably look at all options.
