Montelucia Resort & Spa (Scottsdale)

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
It was OK

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Camelback view room, received Camelback view room (no upgrade given). View was of trees, could barely see the mountain, although when checking in they claimed it was the best view available. odd. Overpaid and should have booked cheapest available.

How are the rooms?
Rooms are well done. Bathroom is huge. Love big bathrooms, but would have preferred a larger room and a smaller bathroom (especially traveling with 2 kids).

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was your welcome gift?
Fruit, water, chocolate chip cookies with a glass of milk

How was the mini-bar?
Well stocked, refreshed daily.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes

What was good and what was bad?
Housekeeping
Bellman who helped us with our luggage when leaving (friendly, polite).
Mini-bar charges and movie taken off bill immediately when I said I should not be charged. Lady was apologetic.

Bad
No upgrade
Bad view of Camelback mountain given the 2 trees blocking.
Very kid unfriendly.
No misting devices around the hotel.
Only able to check into the room at 3:45pm. We arrived at 3pm. Check-in is apparently 4pm.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
It was OK price wise, nothing spectacular given the heart of summer and +115 degree weather. Prices were comparable with the Westin, higher than the JW Marriott and Hyatt.

Would you return?
No. Prefer the Westin and Four Seasons. Went to the Hyatt one night and their facilities appeared far better (no idea about the rooms), especially if traveling with kids.
