Some notes about the Day Trip To Freo....

09:20 Need to be at Barrack Street Jetty
09:45 Departs Barrack Street Jetty for Fremantle
11:05 Arrive Fremantle

Returning to Perth

No designated time for returning to Perth has been set. You can either return to Perth by train, or catch a ferry back.

Train:

The train departs from the Fremantle Railway station. On Saturdays, a train departs Fremantle every 15 minutes.

Note on fares: Public transport fares in Perth are based on a zone system. Perth is in Zone 1, and Fremantle is in Zone 2. You therefore need to purchase a 2 zone ticket. The ticket is valid for 2 hours and a cash ticket currently costs $4.00, and can be purchased at the railway station.

Ferry:

Captain Cook run ferries back to Perth

Getting around Fremantle.

Option 1: ( $25 )
Fremantle Tram Tours run a hop on hop off tour around Fremantle (http://fremantletrams.com/Day-Tours/...-off-tour.html).
There is a stop near where the ferry will arrive, and is scheduled at the stop shortly after the ferry arrives.

Note that it is on a winter schedule, and for people catching the train back, the last drop off time at the railway station is 3:40pm

Option 2: ( free )
The City of Fremantle operates a free CAT (central area transit) bus. The red cat begins service from the Maritime Museum, which is not far from the arrival jetty.

Option 3:
Walk!

Things to do, in rough order from where we arrive in Fremantle

1) E-shed Markets (http://www.eshedmarkets.com.au/)

2) Maritime Museum (http://museum.wa.gov.au/museums/maritime) $10 entry

3) Cappuccino strip

4) Fremantle Prison (http://www.fremantleprison.com.au) - various tours available

5) Fishing Boat Harbour

While I'll probably be having lunch at Cicerello's (http://www.cicerellos.com.au/) at the Fishing Boat Harbour, some other options:
