How to use and charge a Suica card

This is an excellent video showing how to use and charge a Suica card.

You don't actually have to touch the charge button on the screen when topping up a Suica, but simply insert the card in the slot on the left. It's funny I always try to insert it the wrong way round as this guy does.

If charging by 2,000 yen or more, bank notes don't have to be inserted one by one. It is not possible to charge a Suica with a credit card - not as a visitor anyway. A Pasmo card is a non-JR version of Suica and the two are completely interchangeable.

Another useful feature is some coin lockers at railway stations are operated by Suica. You put your bags, close the door and tap the control panel with a Suica. No key to lose or locker number to remember. When you return you tap the panel with a Suica and the door will automatically open.
