Profitable? Probably. The Visa waiver program will drive a lot of demand and HA's product and fare structure is pretty well matched with Taiwan market (i.e. not ultra premium J, lots of Y seats). CI will probably corner all the low cost packaged tour market for TPE-HNL so HA should probably target the individual travelers that tend to pay higher fares.

The interesting thing here is the schedule. Looks like the plane will be on the ground for 14 hours at TPE. More than enough to do a tag-on flight to HKG or SIN...
