Our brains are very good at recognising and remembering the shape of words. This is almost impossible to do when the text is capitalised. Sorry for the rant. This is a pet peeve of mine.
Indeed. The human brain is quite excellent at pattern recognition, hence why many small spelling mistakes, inversion of letters etc are often missed, although out eyes see all this information our brains block as much out as possible. Thought to be a self-preservation mechanism to prevent overstimulation. Epilepsy is an example of when this doesn't quite work.
