Even more so, I was on the LHR-MIA flight the other week and saw a whole bunch of cabin crew with silver bag tags. How does that work? I've started noticing this more and more with BA cabin crew with these days.

You can't earn status on non-rev flights and I doubt BA cabin crew would fly rev-fare for leisure.
Just an observation.
I suspct BD matching has temporarily increased by quite a few the number of BA Silver and Golds.
