It's not just annoying, it'll be a pain in the butt on occasion. I used to interline on separate tickets about once a year. Now I'll have to figure out what to do with our baggage when I have an award and a paid ticket or two awards from different FF programs on the same trip. I know that I can normally combine flights from two or more airlines on the same paid ticket, but there are times when I prefer that they be on separate tickets - like when I'm getting reimbursed for one set of flights and personally paying for the other.

And the reason people keep bringing up SkyTeam is that you'd think that DL would make it easier for people to fly on airlines in their own alliance rather than treating their flights the same as if I booked on a OW or *A airline.
