Indeed, how one looks at ths card can depend on how much ones tays at Club Carlson properties. There's those of us who've only tended to stay when insanely bribed (like we were several times in past year!), and otherwise earn lots of points from the seemingly-never-ending rich Aivs (or Budget) car rental bonuses. For those of us, the fee-free version is probably "good enough".

I agree though, that if you do stay at Club Carlson hotels beyond those bribes enough (but just not quite enough for thes status the card gives), there may be some additional benefit to one the annual fee versions.
