New York Daily News:
A pilot tricked his girlfriend into believing that their plane was about to crash — right before he popped the question.
Ryan Thompson and his bride-to-be were flying over Chicago when he told her that the plane's controls were malfunctioning.
"Honey, I need you to remain calm," Thompson says, as the ride starts to get bumpy.
Thompson gives his visibly shaken girlfriend a sheet of paper containing emergency procedures and asks her to read it aloud.
"The checklist is complete … and it says the rings may be engaged … and to initiate the ring engagement procedure," his girlfriend reads.
