Trans-Pyrenees - Tom's Trust

Many of you have helped my fundraising efforts through the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge in previous years. For a couple of reasons, I have taken a break from the PMC this year, but I have a somewhat stiffer challenge and another cause that would benefit from your support instead!

Starting next Thursday, I will be tackling ‘La Transpyrénéenne’ – a 640km bike ride from the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean, over fifteen major cols of the Pyrenees. Over five days, we will climb over 12,000m in altitude, and tackle the same climbs made famous by the Tour De France. ‘Highlights’ include the Col Du Tourmalet, which climbs up to 2,115m over 19km, at an average gradient of 7.4%, and the Col D’Aubisque, 1,709m over 16km at 7.2%. Full details of the route are here: http://www.gpm10.com/2012-schedule/trans-pyreneenne/

This year I am raising funds for Tom’s Trust. The trust has been set up to support the development of centres of clinical excellence in the treatment and rehabilitation of children with brain tumours, initially at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. Tom was a boy who attended my children’s school, and sadly lost his battle with cancer in November of 2010, aged 9, so this is pretty close to home.

If you would like to donate, please follow the link below. Unlike previous years, donations are in GBP!

Thanks for reading, and thanks for any donation you make.
