You can take the train in Singapore and travel all the way to Vietnam. It's not very expensive and can be more flexible than the LCCs.
One train goes from SIN to Vietnam? Wasn't aware of that. I knew it went to KUL, but hadn't heard of it going into Thailand and beyond.
