I understand silver isnt really "elite". I just know that US air previously gave me priority boarding That is why as a UA member I did not mind taking US sometimes. Now with their new policy, I do not get it and I have another reason not to fly US. I'm sure that if UA does the same thing, it makes a US member less inclinded to fly UA.
Apparently I still get a free checked back, so maybe its not a big deal.
