This could be good for "older" relatives who want a cup of coffee at 5:00 a.m. as they are known to do.

The property connects to the casino through a shopping mall, good restaurants and a food court. I liked it because you could have a nice dinner or pick something up and go back to your room without having to go through the casino. The pricing on MGM Grand has been pretty inexpensive ($69), but I don't know about your month.
I just got back from a stay at the MGM Signature where I went for my mother's 80th birthday. I would say that the rooms are the quality and size of a luxury hotel (Bellagio, Wynn, Venetian class, at around 600 sq. ft mini suites) but the level of service and amenities is not. Those are more like the level of an average 4* place. That being said, at the rate I got ($75 a night plus $22.40 resort fee - it was actually 100/nt but with the 4th nt free) it was a quite good value, and the full kitchen was worth having. The rooms come with a king bed and a queen sofa bed, that was good quality (I slept on it, while my mother got the king).

The one caveat is, because of the immensity of the MGM complex, there is invariably a lot of walking to go anywhere if you lack a car - it's a good 1/2 km to the strip, or to Tropicana road.
