I vote for SWF if you can. It may not be to your airline alliance liking but EWR is quite easy to get to from Orange/Putnam Counties. I grew up there and we use EWR over JFK/LGA to avoid the clusterf**k of traffic problems.
Another option (not AA but allows for redeyes) is flying to PHL and connecting to SWF.
