Prior to the announcement of DEQAA, I only had one trip booked with any airline.
Code:
First trip:
LGA>ORD>LAX>DFW>LGA
Cost: $293,-
EQM: 13184
Cost Basis: 2,22 cpm
Of course, the routing was meant to take advantage of DEQ11. However, with the announcement of DEQAA, I began to think that EXP is an actual possibility before the month's end. I looked into ways of doing it and found the following:
Code:
Second trip:
LGA>ORD>PVG>ORD>LGA
Cost: $389,21
EQM: 31160
Cost Basis: 1,25 cpm
Notes: The fare was originally $756,20. The reductions were thanks to a 10%
off from SethLevy and a $300,- VDB.
Third trip:
LAX>ORD>LAX
Cost: $219,40
EQM: 10470
Cost Basis: 2,1 cpm
Fourth trip:
LGA>ORD>LGA
Cost: $155,40
EQM: 2932
Cost Basis: 5,3 cpm
Notes: I guess when compared to my other flights, this was not a bargain.
Fifth and Sixth trips:
ORD>SFO>ORD
Cost: $219,40
EQM: 11076
Cost Basis: 1,98 cpm
Total EQM from the above trips is at 69428. I have another trip from MIA > TPA during Spring Training, which is another 500 EQM for a total of 69928 through April 2012.
I was hoping to make up some of the difference this summer when I plan to circumnavigate the globe for my 30th birthday. The tentative itinerary for that trip is JFK>KEF>HEL>LED>DME>ULN>PEK>YYZ>YUL>JFK (with HEL>LED and DME>ULN>PEK done by train). However, none of the flights are serviced by 1W w/ the exception of LED>DME, in which I will fly S7 for a measly 42 EQM. On a side note, JFK>KEF>HEL is $425,- a/i but that is on FI, which gives me AS miles. PEK>YYZ is $550,- a/i on AC and that gives me UA miles.
That said, I am thinking of spending the money I would have spent PEK>YYZ on trying to eek out two more MRs, but my January is kinda bloated w/ travel. 8-11 I am in LAX. 14-16 I am in YUL. 22-23 I am on MR between ORD and SFO. 26-30 I am in PVG.
How can I fit in 10-20k EQM more in January w/o killing myself?
