Blue1 has actually changed their policy recently about through checked baggage when travelling on separate tickets. Through checking is not any more possible event with A*-airlines
New rules for through check of baggage
New baggage handling rules came into effect 31st of October with Blue1.
For passengers holding separate tickets with transfer and first leg is with Blue1, through check of baggage to final destination can only be made if the connecting flight is operated by Blue1 (KF), SAS (SK) or Widerøe (WF).
If the connecting flight is with another airline, passenger must pick up the luggage during transfer at the intermediate station and check it in again to the connecting flight. Same applies if the journey starts with another airline than Blue1.
Therefore it’s important that a passenger traveling with separate tickets is informed about this and that the transfer time is sufficient.
Example:
- KF/SK flight HEL-CPH with SK connecting flight CPH-MAD on separate tickets:
through check of baggage to final destination is available.
- KF flight HEL-BRU with SN connecting flight BRU-MAD on separate tickets:
passenger must pick up the luggage during transfer and check it in again.
- LX flight VLC-ZRH with KF connecting flight ZRH-HEL on separate tickets:
passenger must pick up the luggage during transfer and check it in again.
These new procedures apply for passengers holding separate tickets. If the entire journey is on same ticket, through check of baggage to final destination still applies for almost all airlines in accordance with the interline agreements.
