Don't worry too much about the distance between the seats, unlike Y or Y+ where pitch dictates how far you have to spread your legs, you don't have that worry in J, all seats are angled for direct asscess to the aisle and your bed will still be made up just the same way as anyone else.

You should be more worried about width of the aisle and that's where row 2 is negitive unless you are with a friend. The space between the two ottomans narrow here and you almost get a feeling of the passenger opposite almost standing in your space to get down aft. Row 2 plus side is that it is not as cramped as row 1 where ottomans are about touching and that you can get the 744 forward view a wee bit if you lean.

I would stick with 7 but personal choice
