My understanding is that if a stay has a Thursday and/or a Sunday night in it, then Triple points are applied for the entire stay. Friday and Saturday or any other day of the week are not in play for Triple Points if the stay doesn't also include Thursday and/or Sunday.
I'm fairly certain that this will bear out in the upcoming FAQ.
