Strange... I had United customer service Germany on the phone.
The agent and I went trough the T&Cs. Word by word. Sentence by sentence. We both agreed that the TATL is upgradable if booked in L. Fine.
When I then asked them for help in this situation the agent changed his mind completely.
- UA: Well, it's Lufthansa who refused the upgrade, talk to them. Me: I did talk to them and they had me to call you.
- UA: Send a letter to customer service. Me: That's not possible, we need to find a solution now! UA: Call then LH...
- UA: The voucher is only valid on a standby basis. Me: Yes, on a standby basis. This was the situation today.
- UA: It's LH who can decide if they want you to upgrade. Me: Well, where does it say this? UA: On the T&Cs it says "subject to availability". Me: Yes, right. And there was availability. UA: How do you know? Me: I was in the plane. UA: But it's LHs decision...
Tatata... Calling LH, calling UA, tatatata....
