Good Afternoon, all.
Allow me to provide a few quick clarifications.
1). If you switch to RR, do you forego MR points from your MR credit card while you are a RR member?
If one was to switch to The Ritz-Carlton Rewards and that individual is a Marriott Rewards Credit Card holder, the individual will still earn points from their Marriott Rewards credit card.
2). If you switch to RR, and you currently have a MR Mega Bonus promotion, does it then cease to exist while a RR member?
I think this might acutally occur and have no idea what would then happen if one were to switch back to MR before the end of the MB promotion.
Does switching back to MR revive the MB promotion and whatever stays you may have made while a MR member prior to switching to RR are then re-activated/counted for the MB promotion?
Do the stays that you might have made while a RR member then count towards the MB promotion if you were to return to MR?
This MegaBonus will not cease to exist if one were to switch to The Ritz-Carlton Rewards. We will honor the promotion to which we have previously communicated to them. However, as a member of The Ritz-Carlton Rewards, one would receive future communications and promotions specific to that program.
As a Marriott Rewards member, stays at The Ritz-Carlton Hotels will count towards MegaBonus.
3) Currently, there is an incentive to switch to RR because of the free night promotion for new RR members, but if one will no longer earn points from their MR credit card if one is an enrolled RR member, one might think twice about doing this.
Current and former Marriott Rewards members are not eligible for the free night promotion for new The Ritz-Carlton Rewards members. If one were to switch from Marriott Rewards to The Ritz-Carlton Rewards, they would still be ineligible for the promotion.
Thank you,
Andrew and the Marriott Concierge Team
