I was at the side entrance of Nordstrum in the Fashion Show Mall (we managed to pick up and iPad even after joining the queue as late as around 10:45am) and was surprised to see the entrance of the Trump International directly opposite.
So it is not behind the Fashion Show Mall even although is still near the back end.
To be honest, if you measure the distance from the back portion of Vdara or Bellagio to the Strip, it is probably the same distance as the Trump International to the Strip. However, given you wander to the casino area and the shopping area, you do not really appreciate the distance within the hotel. The Trump International is separated from the strip so the walk is outdoors and therefore feels further from the strip.
