Our check-in was completed so smoothly and efficiently that we really didn't have to do anything but sign on the dotted line, and my mother was given a pashmina as the IC Ambassador present. (IC Ambassador is a paid-for membership scheme which gives various benefits at IC properties, including guaranteed complimentary room upgrades and complimentary Priority Club Gold membership.) We were offered breakfast in the lounge, but declined and opted to be escorted straight up to our room as we were feeling a little worse for wear after the long flight from London.
Our room was beautifully appointed with great views across the Colonial Core as far as the Esplanade area and down onto the hotel swimming pool below. The large bathroom, entrance hall and bedroom was immaculately clean and had every amenity you'd want from a five star hotel, without going overboard. Because we required two beds and were already in the highest available category of room with two beds, the Ambassador room upgrade was not offered, but instead (upon enquiring) we did receive a sizeable discount on the final bill.
