The post in the thread that gave the detailed explaination seems to be gone. there's still one there that says pretty much all there is to say. Nothing really that needs to be said, if you think about the matter a bit:

- the controls are inside the arm rest (of course not inside the arm rest that houses the tray table -- the other one)

- there's a hidden switch to remove the cover of the arm rest

- operating the manual controls allows to manually move the foot rest and seat back (now, that's something nobody would have thought...)

- before doing any of this, move your seat into the "sleeping" position.

What else:

- Don't do this in plain sight of the FAs

- it's hard to see the difference between the manipulated fully flat sleep position and the normal slanted sleep position by just walking by. So: Don't to the manipulation in plain sight of the FAs. Wait until the cabin lights are dimmed and the FAs have retreated into the galleys and crewrests.


- You can lower the back rest on all other seats as well, thereby avoiding the "slide-down-syndrome".
