Wife Phones In Phony Airport Bomb Threat

A major security alert was declared at Geneva Airport (GVA) Wednesday after a woman reportedly phoned in a hoax bomb threat in an attempt to prevent her husband from boarding a flight. The woman, reportedly from Annecy, France, allegedly phoned Swiss customs claiming that a person carrying a bomb would pass through an area of the airport. Most entrances to the airport were closed as armed guards rushed in, and all visitors’ IDs were double-checked, leading to long delays. The call was traced to the woman’s home in Annecy, which was raided by local police. In a statement, prosecutors said, “They found a woman who admitted to having made the call and explained that she wanted thereby to prevent her husband from leaving.”
