The Federal Aviation Administration reports that a UPS A300 cargo plane crashed in Birmingham, Alabama, this morning. The incident occurred at 6 a.m. EDT, as the plane was approaching Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. The only crew members aboard, the pilot and co-pilot, were both killed.

The plane had departed Lousiville, Ky, just 45 minutes earlier and was approaching the airport when it crashed in a nearby field. There are no details about the cause, as the incident is being investigated.

No flights have been delayed as a result of this incident.
