United Ends Last Africa Route

United Airlines will cease providing nonstop service to Lagos, Nigeria at the end of June, ending the carrier’s last route to Africa. The airline plans to repurpose the Boeing 787 Dreamliner used for erstwhile Nigeria flights for the recent launch of service between San Francisco and Tel Aviv, Israel. “After careful analysis, we have decided to exit the IAH-LOS (Houston Bush Intercontinental-Lagos) route and redeploy the Boeing 787 aircraft where it can capture more profitable demand,” said a spokesperson for United in a memo on Wednesday.

This is terrible news for us passengers that use this flight. After years of loyalty to UA ONLY because of this route I will now have to change to DL which I despise, start from zero miles with them and sucky SkyTeam. I understand United is a business and Lagos was not being good for them, but they have just pissed of a lot of GS and 1K members.
