United Airlines Names New President

United Continental Holdings, Inc. (UAL) announced today that Scott Kirby has been named president of United Airlines. Kirby, who previously held the position of president with American Airlines, will manage United’s operations, marketing, sales, alliances, network planning and revenue management.

“Scott is a proven leader, whose deep airline experience and expertise will further accelerate our efforts to build the best airline in the industry,” said Oscar Munoz, CEO of United. “Scott’s appointment, along with other recent leadership announcements, is the culmination of the formation of my senior leadership team. This is just the latest step in our mission to be an agile and innovative industry leader.”

You know he's a airplane guy beginning with the Air Force Academy a proven leader. I think it's a great move on UA's part. If you know how to lead and manage one can run most any company, and with his background and youth it works for me. I for one will keep an eye on UA and if I see improvements will consider moving my company business over to them.
