Trump’s New Ban Blocks Almost All Travel From More Countries

On Sunday night, President Donald Trump issued a new proclamation banning travel for eight countries — Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela & Yemen — indefinitely.

This travel ban is an extension of his original executive order that temporarily prohibited nationals of seven different countries from entering the United States regardless of visa status. Each country on the list will have a specific set of travel restrictions.

Additionally, Iraqi citizens will face heightened scrutiny although “entry restrictions and limitations under a Presidential proclamation are not warranted.

The travel ban is set to go into place on October 18th. The US Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments on the validity of the ban on October 10th.
