This Unbelievable Airport Hasn’t Lost a Single Bag Since It Opened Its Doors in 1994

An airport that never loses luggage? It sounds far-fetched, but one such an airport exists!

As if anyone needed another reason to go to Japan, here’s a new one: The country’s airports are the least likely to lose passenger luggage. In fact, Kansai International Airport (KIX) has the remarkable distinction of never having lost a piece of luggage since the airport opened its doors in 1994. KIX has also fared well in terms of the amount of time between customers leaving a plane and picking up their luggage. One of the small tricks that yields to this efficient system is that baggage personnel place luggage on the carousel with the handles facing out, that way it’s easier for travelers to quickly grab their belongings.

The statistics came out of a report compiled by Skytrax, an airline and airport consultancy in the U.K., which ranked the top 10 airports in the world for baggage handling as part of the 2015 World Airport Awards. Japanese airports overall did quite well in the baggage delivery category, with both Tokyo Haneda International Airport (HND) and Narita International Airport (NRT) also making the top 10. The full list of winners is as follows:

  1. Kansai International Airport (KIX)
  2. Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)
  3. Singapore Changi Airport (SIN)
  4. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)
  5. Incheon International Airport (ICN)
  6. Tokyo Haneda International Airport (HND)
  7. Copenhagen Airport (CPH)
  8. Munich Airport (MUC)
  9. Zurich Airport (ZRH)
  10. Narita International Airport (NRT)

Skytrax studied 550 airports across 112 nations and also took into consideration reviews from 13 million travelers when compiling the rankings. The World’s Best Airport for Baggage Delivery, as voted on by travelers, was Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), followed respectively by Incheon International Airport (ICN) and Singapore Changi Airport (SIN).

It all goes down to what kind of persons or people work at the airports... In USA, we all have the "don't give a damn" kind of demography working our baggages... Anyone should go to Japan and see how their subway drivers handle there boring job, that how dedicated they are when driving the trains...
