Singapore Airlines Just Used Cooking Oil to Power a Plane

Singapore Airlines has, for the first time ever, used cooking oil to power one of its flights. As part of its “green package” services – which are designed to slash toxic emissions – the carrier’s first eco-friendly flight departed San Francisco Monday and landed in Singapore on Tuesday.

Speaking on the event, Singapore Airlines Chief Executive Officer Goh Choon Phong said, “We [Singapore Airlines] now want to push ourselves further and are embarking on this initiative to help promote the use of sustainable biofuel in an operationally and commercially viable manner.”
