Security Caught Sleeping on the Job at Hong Kong Airport

Security guards at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) are under scrutiny after a whistleblower leaked pictures of the Aviation Security Company Limited (AVESCO) employees asleep on the job.

The photos taken and leaked by the anonymous whistleblower — who claims to have been employed by AVESCO for 15 years — appear to show a number of workers in SuperTerminal 1, the largest air freight handling center in the world, passed out at their posts.

The whistleblower claims that in addition to sleeping on the job, a number of rules are being broken within the facility, such as staff members allowing prohibited materials onto aircraft.

AVSECO has denounced the whistleblower’s claims, telling the Hong Kong Free Press the “majority” of their allegations were “untrue and unfounded.”

According to Calvin Huen, Senior Manager of the Operations Support Department, the allegations regarding employees who “might have neglected their duties are being thoroughly investigated” and disciplinary action will be taken where necessary.
