Rivals Boeing & Airbus Collide in Airport Hangar

Boeing and Airbus went head-to-head Wednesday when two of the rival companies’ aircraft collided at King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED).

Local Arabic-language newspaper Makkah reported the collision between the Boeing 777 and Airbus 320 was minor. The A320 was reportedly exiting a hangar when its tail clipped the wing of a 777 coming in for maintenance. Both aircraft belong to Saudia, the flag carrier of Saudi Arabia.

“There weren’t any injuries recorded and the quality assurance directorate is investigating the incident,” an airport source told Makkah, as reports the Saudi Gazette. “The accident happened due to a failure in following rules and procedures. The maintenance crew responsible for the negligence will be punished.”
