Passengers Removed From Flight Allegedly Received “Dynamite” Text

New details in Spirit Airlines situation claims a passenger allegedly received a threatening text message prior to departure.

New details are coming to light over an incident that required a Spirit Airlines flight to return to the gate at Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI). After a Maryland Public Information Act request by the Associated Press, a police report suggests one of the group of four travelers aboard Spirit Airlines Flight 969 on November 17 allegedly received a text message that read “BLR Dynamite,” causing a passenger to be alarmed.

According to the report, a female passenger became concerned when the flyer spoke on the phone in a language other than English. The accusing passenger then claimed she saw the allegedly threatening message on the flyer’s phone, which she reported to the flight attendants. “BLR” is the IATA code for Bengaluru International Airport in India. The decision was ultimately made to return the flight to the gate out of an abundance of caution.

Previous reports claim the group of travelers were watching a news report on their phone, which caused the initial alarm. Once deplaned, the accusing passenger identified three men and a woman as the group who supposedly received the text message. Only three were traveling together, but were talking to the fourth prior to departure.

The four were temporarily detained and questioned by police officers, an air marshal and a Joint Terrorism Task Force agent. The traveler in question allowed authorities to investigate his phone and no text message containing the word “dynamite” could be identified on his phone. The group of travelers was ultimately released without charges.

The incident has been denounced by the Council of American-Islamic Relations, which has demanded Spirit publicly apologize to the four passengers removed from their flight. The low cost carrier has not released further comment, outside of acknowledging the incident took place.

They should detain the accuser every time an accusation is made, until a situation is cleared up. This is just another case of a pant-wetting adult who watches too much Fox News.
