Off-Duty Cop Detained After Gun Discovered in Carry-On

According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), lax security at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is to blame for a handgun being left in off-duty Santa Monica police officer Noell Grant’s carry-on luggage, which led to the passenger being detained by security after landing in Taiwan. The firearm was a personal item, not police-issued.

Lt. Saul Rodriguez of the Santa Monica Police Department confirmed that Grant would not be able to depart from Taiwan until the issue had been satisfactorily resolved.
