New Study: Over Half of TSA Item Reimbursement Requests Were Denied in 2016

According to a recent study by air charter company Stratos Jet Charters, travelers whose items are lost or damaged by the Transportation Security Administration face a difficult time trying to collect reimbursement for damage done to their personal effects. In a survey of 4,294 claims filed with the agency in 2016 and early 2017, Stratos Jet Charters discovered that 68 percent of requests were denied, and that approved claims yielded flyers an average of $135.

TSA cut the zippers in my TSA built-in lock on my suitcase. Even left a TSA note. But with all the evidence, TSA denied my bag claim saying they didn't do it. Thankfully American Express reimbursed me.
