Lindsay Lohan: I Was Profiled at Heathrow

Actress Lindsay Lohan claims she was profiled Monday at Heathrow Airport (LHR) because of her headscarf. Lohan, who has recently stated that she has been studying the Quran, said she was stopped by an LHR employee and told to remove the headscarf.

“She [an airport official] opened my passport and saw ‘Lindsay Lohan’ and started immediately apologizing, but then said, ‘Please take off your headscarf,'” Lohan said.

“…what scared me was, at that moment, how would another woman who doesn’t feel comfortable taking off her headscarf feel? That was really interesting to me. I was kind of in shock.”

The actress was reportedly traveling from Turkey where she wore the headscarf to be respectful.

I recall a fly-on-the-wall TV documentary about Heathrow (maybe 10 years ago). One of the scenes showed (Sir) Michael Caine arriving at immigration control. He was clearly recognisable to the female agent who was even smiling in recognition of this iconic personality. Nevertheless, she requested that he remove his baseball cap (as is required) so that she could confirm and complete her duties for the entry clearance process. Mr Caine graciously removed his hat, the lady nodded and handed back his passport, and he went on this merry way. That is how things are supposed to be done!

Travelling from Turkey so arriving at LHR. Border Agency would want to confirm that the picture in the passport matched the passenger stood in front of them. If she was transferring to another flight, the same would apply with airline staff wanting to be sure the passenger travelling had a valid passport. A perfectly reasonable request to someone who wishes she was far more important than she is.

With Multiple Drug related offences she would not even be allowed into USA had she been a UK Citizen looking to Enter America or Canada.

Why would you wear a headscarf to "be respectful" in Turkey?! Turkey is still arguably secular and covering is the exception, not the norm (yet). Her idiocy amazes me.
