Killing of 70K Birds to Secure NYC Flight Paths Fails

Attempts to clear New York City flight paths by disposing of 70,000 birds since 2009 have proved ineffective as the number of bird strikes has reportedly increased.

Initiation of the eradications came after Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger was forced to land an aircraft in the Hudson River when geese flew into the plane’s engines with 155 people onboard.

According to The Huffington Post, species among the birds slain include, “28,000 were seagulls, 16,800 European starlings, 6,000 brown-headed cowbirds and 4,500 mourning doves.”
