Istanbul Airport Bombing Halts All U.S. Flights

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has decided to implement a “ground stop” order for all flights between the United States and Istanbul, Turkey following the suicide attacks at Istanbul Atatürk Airport (IST) that resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries. The FAA did not elucidate how long the order may be in effect or how many flights between the regions will be impacted. Istanbul officials told have confirmed that nearly 50 individuals were killed during the terrorist attack, though the figure was later changed to reflect at least 31 dead and 60 wounded after at least three suicide bombers were alleged to have attacked the international terminal entrance of the airport.
