Former Aeroflot FA Sues for Size Discrimination

In the wake of Russian carrier Aeroflot’s well-publicized issues regarding the appearance, age and weight of flight attendants on long-haul international flights, 42-year-old flight attendant Yevgeniya Magurina is suing the airline for discrimination.

“Right now there’s a policy that a flight attendant has to be sexually attractive,” said Magurina. “But our role onboard is different: it’s to ensure safety, not to be an object of sexual desire. This is wrong and hurtful.”

A court in Moscow is scheduled to rule on the lawsuit on Tuesday.
