EU Investigates Lufthansa’s Controversial Booking Fee

Last week, the European Commission confirmed that an investigation was underway into carrier Lufthansa and the airline’s decision to add a booking fee for reservations made outside of its main websites and call centers. Customer service complaints related to the $19 (€16) fee have been filed for the last two years, and Violeta Bulc, Transport Commissioner, confirmed that the investigation would determine whether the surcharge broke any EU regulations.
