Errant Drone Disrupts LGW Flights

On Sunday night, a drone flying through the sky near London Gatwick Airport (LGW) forced the airport to close one runway and divert a number of flights to separate landing strips up to 80 miles from the airport.

Due to the incident, the pilot of one flight forced to land at London Stansted Airport (STN) solicited a passenger vote on whether to disembark or return to Gatwick. “I thought it was going to turn into Lord of the Flies at one point,” said one passenger.
